Part Two: Possible Capstone Ideas (30 minutes)

These lists are subject to change but this is roughly what I imagine doing as of now. 

  • CAD software or 3D Design software: I currently work on projects that develops software to design dental products. 3D design software has always been my passion but for my software it would focus more on general objects that can be printed. It will probably be similar as Blender. I will try to make it as user friendly as possible. This project can help me learn more about graphics and optimization. The only thing that is making me hesitate to do this for future capstone project is the time. But this is definitely can be a personal project of mine as well.
  • Pet Adoption SaaS Product: For the second one I would probably work on a SaaS product. My plan is to build a pet adaption tool and it would be similar to a social media. In this simple website people can freely browse which pet are open to be adopted. There would also be a profile for pets and for adopters. Previous owner can also refuse to give out their pets if they think person who is interested in adopter their pet is not capable of providing good care. This project would be able to showcase my front-end and back-end development skills. A good addition to my portfolio.
  •  Video game: As one of my hobbies I think it will be a great idea of mine to create a video game. since I am familiar with the industry I can be familiar with mechanics and ideas to entertain users. I don't a general idea yet what kind of game it will be or what kind of genre it would be but I'm leaning towards a 2D HD rpg game. It would be similar to games such as octopath traveler or Final Fantasy games and I would change or add new mechanics. 

 

Part Three: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

   This week, I learned how to use AI in writing through the ethics essay. I learned about different prompts on how to optimize essay. It is important to give context to AI in order for it to maximize its efficiency when giving outputs. This week I also learned different prompts I can use by reading my classmates prompts method. By using AI I learned how to create or write valid stakeholder argument and points. I am not stuck with my own ideas and I was able to leverage AI to have ideas and give me more knowledge in the subject I am trying to research.

    Hi Glenn, thanks for sharing these capstone project ideas. The CAD software idea is interesting, but as you mentioned, it would probably take a lot of time to make a full-fledged 3D editor. It might be possible to make something using 3D software, but with a more limited scope. There are a lot of resources available on Unity, for example, so that might be a good route.

  Part One: My Educational Goals My educational goal for  CS program is to have a strong foundation in computer science theory and practical skills. Week 2

     Module 2 lectures focuses on the present condition of business and company. I learned a lot starting from the the state of software industry. Innovation itself moves fast in today's age, and in order to keep up with it, people has to learn to adapt quickly as well. I also learn about different methodologies that company uses for software development. I was already aware of the two present method which are  agile  and  devops  as my current company uses this method but I learned about the continuous method . Essentially there were methods that was used in the pass which are Waterfall, Capability Maturity Model, and Rational Unified Process . I also learn more about project management.
